legacy

here lies a woman:
she lies and lies.
now she’s dead, and
may her secrets greet her.

here lies a woman:
she spent her days alone,
a recluse among lovers.
you would never meet her.

here lies a woman:
she loved her family —
despite strong rages with them.
here lies her hateful code.

here lies a woman:
she knew gospel in her heart
but not in her acts or psalms.
here lies her clogged ode.

here lies a woman:
she destroyed herself for all
who ask her to burn.
here lies her self-immolation.

here lies a woman:
she brought hundreds of
grudges and gripes to the grave.
here lies her early frustration.

here lies a woman:
her hands eased her aches
more than those of others.
here lies her boundless lust.

here lies a woman:
her woes sent her down
until she ended her life.
here lies her broken trust.

napowrimo #3: scared yet?

Write about something that scares you. It could be tarantulas or your significant other cheating on you or an existential fear of the unknown so long as it unsettles you. Describe it in the most vivid language possible!

Sometimes by articulating our fears, we strip them of their power. (But don’t go too far! A little fear is good to have.)
